34 Things I’ve Learned in 34 Years

Lifestyle

In no particular order.

  1. I deserve to take up space in this world
  2. I’m not everyone’s cup of tea and that’s okay.
  3. Just because it’s common, doesn’t mean it’s normal.
  4. What’s right for me isn’t right for everyone.
  5. There will always be someone more ___ and less ___ than me (Ex: intelligent, creative, entrepreneurial, etc.). Comparison is a waste of time and joy.
  6. The older I get, the less I care what people who don’t pay my bills think.
  7. People pursuing their purpose usually don’t have time to criticize others.
  8. Put the big rocks in first (big rocks = most important things).
  9. Most things aren’t black or white, but gray.
  10. If I don’t slow down to take care of my body, my body will slow me down to take care of it.
  11. The more I ignore my feelings, the bigger they get and the more they demand my attention.
  12. Mindset around money is a strong predictor of wealth.
  13. Hard work is not the only ingredient required for wealth.
  14. Preventative healthcare is less expensive than Western medicine in the long run.
  15. I know my body better than anyone else. If something doesn’t feel right, I need to bring it up until it feels resolved.
  16. Listen to my intuition, it’s usually right.
  17. Little changes are big changes.
  18. Mindset is everything.
  19. Attachment styles strongly influence how I interact with others and knowing it can shape how I work to be more secure.
  20. Applied knowledge is power.
  21. Action cures fear.
  22. Done is better than perfect.
  23. Perfectionism and workaholism are not good things.
  24. You are replaceable at work.
  25. Disproportionate reactions from others are a “them” problem, not a “me” problem.
  26. EMDR therapy is life-changing.
  27. Self-compassion makes me stronger, not weaker.
  28. Even a good romantic relationship is not a substitute for good friendships.
  29. Women are cyclical, men are linear.
  30. Hormonal birth control is similar to a chemical menopause.
  31. Many bosses care about attitude more than anything else.
  32. I can be my biggest advocate or my own obstacle.
  33. Meditation and breathwork doesn’t have to be woo woo and can completely change my nervous system.
  34. Stress is the worst thing for my health (stress can be physical, mental, emotional). And stressing about doing things the “healthy” way is still adding stress to my system.
